This year marks the 75th National Day of Prayer, an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May. Americans are invited to pray for the nation. Established by Congress in 1952 and signed by President Truman, it was formalized to the current date by President Reagan in 1988 and is rooted in1775 Continental Congress traditions.
