In her first press briefing since the new administration took over, President Trump's press secretary tried to allay fears that despite a federal funding freeze, programs that directly support individuals would not be impacted. She specifically addressed Meals on Wheels, but that national nonprofit dedicated to addressing hunger among America's senior citizens gets a substantial amount of its federal funding that is granted to state units on aging, then is passed to area agencies on aging, and local providers.
