October 7, 2024 ~ Lucy Ann Lance talks with Nicole Bernacik from University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) for this week's Money Monday. To keep Halloween costs low, consider making your own costumes using items you already have or by shopping at thrift stores for unique pieces. Those with sewing skills can create costumes from scratch, with many DIY ideas available online. Shopping last minute can also save money, as stores often reduce prices on costumes, decorations, and candy to clear out inventory. For decorations, purchase pumpkins closer to Halloween as they often go on clearance and tend to rot quickly. After the holiday, you can buy discounted decorations and costumes for the following year.
